Let’s make one small change to marketing your business in 2019. How has 2019 been so far? Have you made any New Year resolutions? Or have they gone out the window!?
So, we’re flying through January. But it isn’t too late to introduce some changes to your business. Have you set some goals for your business marketing? Do you have a business dashboard where you’re tracking your progress towards these goals?
Try something new:
Maybe it’s time to try
something new. Are you still doing the same
things with marketing your business that you did five years ago? If so, it’s definitely time for a little
change.
The thought of trying
something new with your marketing might seem a little scary. It’s like anything in life, don’t make
dramatic changes hastily. Take any
changes in small steps.
Let’s start at the beginning:
What is your business vision?
Do you have it written
down? If not, maybe this could be the starting
point of making one small change. A vision is a vivid mental image of what you want
your business to be at some point in the future, based on your
goals and aspirations. Having a vision will give your business a
clear focus, and can stop you heading in the wrong direction.
Sometimes when you
write down your vision it gives clarity.
You need clarity to know what you want for your business. Is the vision to provide the best customer
service in your industry? Or maybe it is
to increase customer numbers? Perhaps
you have a target turnover in mind?
How to deliver the vision:
If you haven’t looked
at your marketing strategy in relation to your vision, it’s not too late to
start. If your vision is to achieve a
certain customer number or a certain monetary income, what marketing are you
doing to meet this vision? Remember, customers
and money are normally the main things needed to operate your business.
Do you have some strategic
objectives in place? If increasing your
customer numbers is required, then what are your website metrics? Perhaps you need to take a look at a few
things, such as:
- Website traffic
- Social
Media following - Addressing
Social Media platforms to use - Email
Marketing - Video
Marketing - Networking,
etc.
What new marketing strategy to try?
Maybe you need to take
a look at where your customers are online.
If your customers are all on Facebook and YouTube, but you’re only on
Instagram, that might be the change. Quite
simply, be where your customers are.
Have you used any
video content on your website or social media?
If not, try it.
Networking can be a
low cost investment and can help to increase your customer leads. Look into
local networking groups to join.
Small Steps:
Your business marketing strategy might need radical change when you step back to look at your vision. However, don’t be overwhelmed by the change. Write down a list of the things you’d like to change or introduce. Address each piece one at a time. It will be less stressful for you and more productive if you take things in gradual steps.
