The New Year is right around the corner, and we’ve been on the lookout for the biggest marketing trends that will take place in 2022. We’ve created this list of trends so you can start the year off right. So, sit back, take some notes, and soon enough you’ll be watching your business blossom in 2022, courtesy of this blog from Aine Mersseman!

1.  Brands Partnering with Creators

One of the biggest trends we will be seeing in 2022 is brands partnering with creators. Partnering with creators gives brands the chance to reach new audiences, gain trust with customers, and earn cultural capital. Brands are involving themselves with creator communities to learn about their customers and to build brand awareness. There are creators everywhere such as on TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc. Creators hold a level of power and influence that wasn’t seen a few years ago.

2.  Investing in Social Media

According to Hootsuite, more than half of the 18,000 marketers surveyed said they are planning on increasing their social spend in 2022. Marketers plan on spending more money on social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Other social media platforms such as TikTok, Pinterest, and Snapchat are where brands should be considering investing in. As these 3 platforms are less saturated with ads, consumers are more receptive to ads on these platforms. For example: Pinterest encourages marketers to “Stop interrupting. Start inspiring.”

3.  Social Commerce

The second most important channel for brand research is social networks, with search engines being the most important. Younger generations are using social networks to research brands more than they are using search engines. Brands are looking to improve the customer experience both in real-life and through social store fronts. You might be asking yourself, “what is a social store front?” Well, you have most likely seen social store fronts on your feed and not even realized! I’ve been seeing social store fronts on my feed for months and had no idea until I started researching for this blog. An example I’ve seen on my feed recently was from Ariana Grande’s new makeup line ‘REM Beauty.’

Here is an example of a virtual/social store front:

The concept behind this post is to make the customer feel like they are experiencing shopping in a store in real-life but at the comfort of their home. Brands are achieving this by using high quality images of the product, including a direct link that you can click that will bring you to a shop of the products while staying on the Instagram app, and this is where you can make your purchase. Many brands have claimed that using social store fronts has helped them grow their business in ways they could have never imagined.

4.  Customer Care via Social Media

According to Hootsuite, 59% of marketers agree that social customer care has increased in value for their business over the past year. Customers are tired of being left on hold while someone checks the status of their order. Customer care and enquiries via social media is a quick and convenient way for brands to keep their customers happy. Businesses are starting to see that social media is an important customer service channel.

5.   Organic Social Media

Brands will be participating in more live videos / live streams on different social media platforms in 2022. According to a survey by Emplifi, live videos on Facebook see 3 times more interaction than other posts. Brands that use live videos have seen an increase in engagement and sales. Live videos are definitely a trend that you’ll see a lot of businesses taking part in next year.
